THE FADED EYES

A time will come when all these dreams we have imagined, either positive and negative, will manifest without us triggering them. This will depend on the dreams you had. Dreams are simply to picture, but realisation is the hindrance. This is not because we haven’t gauged them appropriately but it is an epitome that the time is not right. This question will pop up- what if our time becomes right after our death?

What prompted the formulation of this article is the way life hits people, although we say that all fingers are not equal. If all fingers are truly not equal, why then can’t we be on the equal side? Or is it predestined that equality and inequality should be the delectable way to treat people in order for them to have common sense? In other words, this implies that we can’t exempt the God factor. At times, the thoughts in us are always eager to express themselves but we cannot utter them. We consider our age, time, deadline and eternal life. These factors are the ones that God has placed as a form of natural supervision so we may think of him always. Yet the word adamant perfectly describes some of us. Hence, we do not see the glory of God.

The next paragraphs will discuss these factors accordingly and I hope that at the end, you will take something meaningful from it. I wish I could be perfect without an external force- creating my own perfection, without any influence. The force of this world is enough to make you fall but all things are possible with God. I will not be using a subtopic as I want the reader to detect the subject matters which I will include in my writing.

The story I am about to narrate will pinpoint these factors so that at the end, you would have gleaned lessons. As our eyes fade what usually comes to our mental acquisition is that life tends to treat some fairly and some unfairly. As a matter of fact, this story won’t be a long epistle but in between- one of those ones which catapult your positive thoughts into reality. I hope some day our dreams will last.

It is said that “age” is just a number, but this would only be realistic in the words of wisdom and understanding. Perhaps there are stages in life you pass through as you grow that make you think about various things, even questioning whether you are heading in the right direction. Be it as it may, you might be dismayed because you have had no notable achievement set into your life.

Imagine a young lady who wakes up one morning, feeling downcast. Her life is becoming miserable as she has exhausted all the necessary “buttons” to press. Her age is multiplying each year, and while she usually uses the statement of Abraham Lincoln which says, “I will study and get ready and someday my chance will come”, it seems as if her time has passed and her whole life is about to dwindle without any tangible results.

She goes ahead to check the measurement system that we call time. As we all know, you cannot separate age from time as separating them is like separating a player from the ball. How then would he or she succeed without the ball? As she observes the movement of the clock hands, tears roll down her eyes, blurring whatever hope she had for her future. ‘What is wrong with me?’ she exclaims! Time seems so fast and age is mankind’s oldest enemy. As we grow older and move closer to the grave, achievement ceases to be certain because death is its own wickedness.

Suddenly, her tears stop as she realises yet another problem- there is a “deadline” for her achievements. This usually happens when it seems like your peers have left you behind and you are the only one in a state of oblivion. As Friedrich Nietzsche puts it,“The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently.” Remember that setting a deadline means one is entrapping themselves in one way or the other. Although deadlines are not a bad thing, when used to measure the achievement of others, they can become a nemesis and this is what this otherwise vibrant lady is dealing with.

She gets to the point of contemplating suicide and her mind and heart liaise to form a concrete decision. She thinks that ending it will make her see God, and maybe she will receive “eternal life”. Her mantra is, “if I can’t succeed here on earth, heaven will be glad to have me”. Maybe she doesn’t realise that there is a reason why God has not been appearing to us physically; rather He prefers to unveil himself through the unseen, to be seen through what he has created.

If we take a look at these factors which engulfed this young lady’s thoughts, we are forced to ask- what then is she looking for? As a matter of fact, her jaded eyes may not have allowed her to see the beauty in her path .

It is a pity that life is not created to be fair but we can make the best out of it. The pressure may become strong such that some people may question your thinking, especially when they judge from their own perspective. Never mind them as it is the way they have been trained to process life. The above story of this young lady clearly depicts her emotions and reactions to life.
It’s an easy thing to sit at a corner and judge without enquiries. Even opening up to some people might be a dangerous idea. What if the wounded become wounded again? How then would they learn to trust?

There are a lot of battles within which we are fighting. To express them is to be in danger at times, and to keep them in is to weigh your mind down. Let us be factual- who can we pour our hearts to?
